02 - Snowy day

In order to better master the basic operations of 3D modeling, I got some inspiration from low poly games (such as Monument Valley/Minecraft) to create two scene models. While better mastering modeling technology, I also have a new understanding of different types of digital aesthetics.

Dtails

In this scene model, I think the most interesting experiment is the choice of ice surface material. How to reflect its transparent material itself and also add some frosted glass texture is the most important point, after all, the frozen surface of the river itself is not as translucent as transparent glass. So while selecting the glass material and adjusting IOR and Weight, I also adjusted the values of Anisotropy and Roughness so that the transparent glass can become frosted and translucent reflective.

Another thing I really enjoyed learning was the application of light. For example, the details of this window have different states in no light, directional light and indoor point light, and the final atmosphere of all the lights combined makes the whole picture different.

Because it was already winter when I made it, I wanted to imagine a Christmas-related scene to create it.
